MUSIC SCHOOL OF
WESTCHESTER
The MSW offers professional instruction to children and
adults in all instruments as well as theory,
composition, voice and acting.
Since its creation in
1982 the MSW has become one of the finest music
institutions in Westchester and has taught thousands of
students from both the local community and more than 50
other countries. Its faculty includes over 35 dedicated
teachers, all prominent artists.
The facilities of the Music School of Westchester -
conveniently located
in Mamaroneck between Larchmont and Rye and next to
Scarsdale, New Rochelle and White Plains - offer a
superb setting for enjoyable music lessons.
Each practice room is equipped with a new piano and the
recital hall with a grand Steinway.
The MSW is a not for
profit organization welcoming students of any race,
color, sex and national origin.
Why should my child study in a music school instead of
with a private teacher at home?
Studying music in an academic setting gives students
the advantage of having access to a large and
professional faculty. It gives them the opportunity to
learn according to a progressive curriculum and to be
evaluated periodically by the standards of the school.
In addition, a school gives the opportunity to play in
ensembles, which encourages cooperation and develops
music sensibility. Performing and attending recitals
gives them a chance to discover the classical repertory
and introduces them to other instruments. It is also
important to mention that a child is more receptive and
less easily distracted in a school environment than at
home.
